Smith was the original guitarist of the Christian hardcore band Here I Come Falling. He was featured on their debut and only album, Oh Grave, Where Is Thy Victory. The album charted at number 46 on the Top Billboard Christian Albums chart.[1] He left the band shortly after the album was released for personal reasons.
After leaving Here I Come Falling, he joined the Ohio-based band, Agraceful and recorded their debut and only album, The Great I Am. Smith left the band in 2009 to focus on his solo project, Romance on a Rocketship.
After leaving Agraceful, Smith pursued his solo project, Romance on a Rocketship, full time. Shortly after, ROAR was discovered on MySpace by music producer J. R. Rotem,[2] who later produced his first single, "Skin & Bones". Shortly after, it was announced that he was signed to Island Records[3] and Beluga Heights Records.
